Adjusting a Fountain's Water Flow

Posted by harper4636 at 03:33 PM on June 12, 2009

One of the great delights in owning a decorative garden fountain is watching and hearing the splashing, trickling water. Depending on the size and type of fountain, water can fall from the height of several feet into a lower basin. This creates a wonderfully soothing noise, but it can also create a potential hazard. Falling water can splash outside the fountain basin and create a slippery hazard, especially on outdoor concrete pavers or patio areas. Indoors, fountain over-splash poses an issue for ceramic and wood flooring. Always adjust the flow of water from the pump to avoid these problems. By turning the pump down a bit, you can avoid over-splashing while still getting a pleasant noise from your fountain.
